I tried to test some OS (10.9.5 & 10.10.5 test) & versions (12.4 & 12.5). but it's same problem. The problem happens when I appear plugin list with many plugin. Organize Plug-In Menus by "Categorie & Manufacturer" is too slow. bit "Flat" is no problem (works fine) I tried beam sync off & disable spotlight. but same problem. Protools HD10 is ok with same machine & setting. Let me know solve this problem....

Re: Protools 12 HD very slow response about Edit Window
I have the same problem,I have tried from Montanin Lion to el Capitan the same problem.I suspect this may be a problem of graphic card because if you do hide the track and leave one or two tracks this bug does not occur,or if hide the insert, send, instrument from edit window again this bug does not occur.
I have an mid 2010 mac pro 2 x 2,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB I will soon try some graphic cards and whether the problem is resolved will write to you directly. And please excuse me for my bad english

Re: Protools 12 HD very slow response about Edit Window
I tried to install another graphic card with AMD R9 280X 3GB.
http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home...-in-my-mac-pro However, It can not be solved problem. (basic OS speed & performance is faster than before, but protools GUI is very slow yet.) I thought that this problem has nothing to do with graphic performance. I reported this problem in avid & get answer "investigate as Formal escalation with this case" I thought that it's bug since 64bit format Protools 11 with many plug-ins installing case. By the way I test to install default + waves complete + UAD-2 only with clean install Yosemite. But it's same here. Threfore I'll wait for answer avid's reply.

Re: Protools 12 HD very slow response about Edit Window
I have the exact same problem, and actually had to slow down my editing to adapt to the lag in PT. Pro Tools 10 flew without any lag, but from PT 11 and on, there was definitely a lag I noticed right away in editing and the overall responsiveness.
Any fixes yet? I tried switching out video cards, ran different operating systems, but no dice. |

How many plugins do you install? But you can solve if you reduce plugins. (only avid)

Re: Protools 12 HD very slow response about Edit Window
I have quite a bit of plugins installed.. roughly 90. I just tried placing all of my plugins in the unused folder and restarted PT... still slow. Doesn't affect the performance at all.

Re: Protools 12 HD very slow response about Edit Window
I have the same problem. It's EXTREMELY frustrating.
Tried: 1. All optimizations. 2. Different harddrives (and optimizing them) 3. I have no floppy. 4. Messing with disk cache. It doesn't seem to be a graphics problems since _everything_ in PT freezes for 3-5 second if do a cut/fade/slide the region. The only thing that solves it is when I consolidate all the cuts. And that isn't really an option. Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Intel I7 3,4 ghz 16gig ram PT12 has been all problems for me since I bought it. |

Re: Protools 12 HD very slow response about Edit Window
I have the same issues. I did everything as listed by avid. CPU is under 40% and memory only 10%. I tried removing unsupported plugins (Native Instruments/Audio Ease Altiverb) from pro tools plugins folder with no luck.

I am having the same issues with HD 12.5.2. The steps posted above haven't changed anything on my system.
