Default digital noise

I'm running pro tools 8 on a m box connected by fire wire to a mac pro. During playback and recording I get like a digital noise sound it eventually goes away but I'm stumped. I've tried changing the fire wire cord to no avail. I'm thinking of going with a completely brand new cord as well any other suggestions?

Earth buzz/hum, bad monitoring (speakers/cans badly wired), mic lead, mic, firewire interface, to name a few of the other faults it may be.

What is the 'digital noise' as you hear it??

A:)

Post an example of the sound. What you are describing can be a number of things, as Ace points out.

I'm certainly no expert, but I kept getting this intermittent fuzz sort of sound the other day because my demo versions of a couple of plug-in had expired (IK Classic Reverbs). Once I disabled each event of the plug-in the noise stopped.

Ok I will try that, the fuzz noise is what I was trying to describe. Now how do I disable the demo plug ins and how do I find out which plug ins are demos? Sorry for being a novice about this issue.

I'm using logic now with no problems so I'm thinking it may be a software error as I have exchanged my mbox through digidesign and still have the problem on to learning logic pro now I guess.
