Default OT: ZOOM palmtop recorder?

I saw this portable recorder recommended on a film-makers site.

Obviously it's a great little toy, and I normally scoff at stuff like this. But it has got a 1/4" jack input, and it samples at 31.25k (is that a standard frequency of any sort? I thought the standard was 32k?) So maybe I should rethink my prejudices.

Any thoughts? Should I ask for one for Christmas?
