Latency, Buffer size - switching from Eleven Rack to Focusrite Scarlett
I've been an Eleven Rack user for years I actually have 2 of them) and have recently switched because
1) Pro Tools abandoned the Eleven Rack long ago and stopped updating drivers 2) those drivers are ALWAYS the cause of my blue screens 3) I needed 2 mic pre's So I've recently gotten a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. Here's what I'm having a tough time understanding. With the Eleven Rack, I was able to set my HW Buffer down as low as 64 With the Focusrite, 256 is the absolute rock bottom... below that it's all crackles and pauses. My system is Win7 x64 5960x 8 Core 32gb DDR4 Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! R |

Latency, Buffer size - switching from Eleven Rack to Focusrite Scarlett
Session sample rate?
What plugins are you trying to run? *Fully* optimize your system, every last thing. Check you have the latest/compatible drivers. Turn off ignore errors, you want to see when/what errors are thrown. Trash prefs and try other usual troubleshooting steps. Post a Sandra report. Check in with Focusrite support. If quick troubleshooting does not improve things it is likely all Focusrite issues. Can you use hardware monitoring? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Darryl Ramm; 08-27-2017 at 12:49 PM. |

Re: Latency, Buffer size - switching from Eleven Rack to Focusrite Scarlett
The Eleven Rack should be capable of being stable on Windows 7. If you were having stability problems with it I hoped you tried reinstalling Windows and all your software. And tested separately with both your Eleven Racks

Also, and I've posted about this lots of times, the Eleven Rack control window which they stopped including IN pro tools... then there's the bug where it opens a million miles offscreen and the only recovery is to edit your registry http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=351140 Also the bug where dry signal comes straight through to one speaker http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=371271 I've had years of crap like that with Eleven Rack and finally gave up. Unfortunately, you can't sell them for $300 either |

The only thing that changed was the interface, so it was more a question of whether or not anyone knows why that might be regarding crashing etc system optimized, prefs trashed a million times latest drivers I still get a lot of crashes, but now it doesn't say elevenRackDriver as the culprit anymore... now it tends to be Problem signature: Problem Event Name: AppHangB1 Application Name: ProTools.exe Application Version: 12.6.0.585 or Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX64 Application Name: ProTools.exe Application Version: 12.6.0.585 I use Vienna, Play, Komplete Ultimate 11, some Waves... I score to picture a lot and stop and start a lot sometimes fairly quickly with video files in the session.. a lot of crashes seem to be when video is loaded... I don't know ... Pro Tools has never been stable for me, no matter how well I follow optimization protocol... so I was hoping it was the Eleven Rack... apparently it's not |

Latency, Buffer size - switching from Eleven Rack to Focusrite Scarlett
I was talking about the audio driver. The Eleven Rack editor has well know problems, I would just avoid using it if it is being a pain for you. But sounds like that is a minor issue now.
The dry signal issue has hit a few people and seems normally solvable. most users in Windows 7 do not have these issues. Have you posted a Sandra report? It sounds like you have a lot going wrong and if anything I would avoid blaming the Eleven Rack and go back and look at your entire computer config. I would grab a new disk or spare partition and start over with a minimal OS, Pro Tools, ILM and interface driver install and test if that works before doing anything else. (especially do not install any third party plugins, apps or utilities/crapware until you have proven the base install stable). carefully optimize everything, absolutely everything done, no WiFi, no BT, no AV software installed (including Windows Defender). Post a Sandra report and mark what drives are used for what. With video and heavy VIs I normally expect to see dedicated video and sample drives. Although fast SSD reduces that need.... but should not cause these problems. Disable dynamic plugin processing Make sure ignore errors is *not* checked and report any AAE errors. Look in Windows system events for errors/warnings around the time the application crashes. You have had far too many problems for far too long, I would hope you can do those clean install tests and quickly work out if your hardware is worth keeping or not. If not then I would get on the i7 build thread in DUC and build or have somebody build you a PC with an exact config that is known to work very well with Pro Tools.
