Default Everything crashes constantly!

I bought my MacBook refurbished in mid 2007. It ran perfectly until a couple of months ago. I bought ProTools for my recording class at school and had to upgrade from Tiger to Leopard. I immediately started having programs crash. I assumed it was because PT is power hungry. I uninstalled PT and my computer worked fine until I reinstalled it. So I am convinced it is a PT or Mbox issue. The salesman at Sweetwater told me I should be using a Firewire external HD instead of my USB. So I sold my USB and bought a Firewire HD. I also upraded my RAM from 2 to 4 GB at the same time. I was told this would take care of all my problems. But is has not. I think it has actually gotten worse. I have repaired the disk, no luck. Reinstalled Leopard 2 or 3 times, no luck. If try to repair the disc permissions in Disk Utility, it gives me a long list of items that need repaired, but never repairs them. I click repair, but when it is done and I go back and click verify to see if it is fixed, I get the same list all over again. The guy at Sweetwater said there is something seriously wrong with my computer. What has gone wrong?!

hi,
first we need to know:

do you use the correct compatible PT and plug-in versions for leopard?

have you follow the troubleshooting thread in this forum?

does your Firewire Harddisk have a qualified Oxford Bridge Chip (911,924 etc.)?

I cannot find any clues for this in your post.

best

Hi,

are you using the MBox 2? And if so, do your freezing applications have sound enabled through the MBox 2 output? Are you having trouble with Pro Tools? Or are you having problems with other apps? Or both?
