FEATURE IDEAS: Make more use of the ribbon control

In the Utility mode, I notice that the ribbon control can detect exactly where your finger is on the ribbon. i.e. it is not just four separate buttons, it can also detect a swiping motion.

Seems like there are some nice possibilities here... one obvious one that springs to mind would be swiping through your tracks. That could be a great feature.

Possibly scrolling through your arrange page?
Zooming in and out?

These are exactly the kinds of features we envisioned when drawing the initial S3 concept on a whiteboard :)

These are also the kind of feature we would hope get critical mass on Ideascale.

When I scroll through my tracks on a project I use the Nudge or Bank so that it follows and I know exactly where I am.

Perhaps putting the ribbon to better use of say for example swiping will move the track play head lleft or right ?
Shift + swipe left or right for another feature and so on

I'm hoping this could all be user enabled for our work flow to fit different needs and for that I will vote it up :)

the touch strip could be used in combination with modifier keys or even better custom "momentary soft keys".
for example:

hold soft key "A" + swipe = zoom
hold soft key "B" + swipe = move selection

etc.

I also like the idea of banking/nudging channels with the ribbon.
