Yes, the board will indicate clip 6dB before it actually is. I personally don't like it. As far as the rms metering, I don't find it all that useful for live sound since it indicates average level which is overall "loudness." It's purely a matter of preference, but the peak setting tells you what the actual levels are at any given moment. I find that preferable.
