Video Madness!

I'm about to get into writing music for film. I've tried importing video into PT12.5 on Win10 and I get the "Quicktime isn't installed " message. BUT IT IS! I've downloaded demo versions of Reaper, Studio One and Digital Performer today and they've imported a short Mp.4 movie in about three seconds with absolutely no bother, no warnings, no error messages.... just STRAIGHT IN. Why isn't Pro Tools like that. This is supposed to be THE industry standard and yet it can't import standard video files straight of the bat. I just don't get why this should be such an issue, why is Quicktime even part of the equation. It's nonsense. Does anybody know an answer to this apart from ditching Pro Tools because clearly something isn't right in their development.
