IMPORTANT VENUE 4.1.3 Update for Avid S3L Now Available

Avid is excited to announce the release of VENUE 4.1.3 software for Avid® S3L Systems. This software update—available March 26th—provides enhanced support for onboard AAX plug-ins, giving S3L users exciting new creative opportunities.

VENUE 4.1.3 doubles the S3L’s plug-in capacity—from 20 to 40 rack slots—enabling users to expand their sonic mixing palette with even more creative choices. In addition, it provides support for more Avid and third-party AAX DSP plug-ins—many of which are now included with all S3L Systems going forward.

VENUE 4.1.3 works with S3L Systems only and is available as a free update for all new and existing S3L owners.

New and existing S3L customers will have more groundbreaking, studio-quality audio effects and sound processors at their fingertips, as Avid is adding the following plug-ins to the original plug-in bundle included with every Avid S3L System:

• Classic Compressors Bundle adds Fairchild 660 and Fairchild 670
• D-Fi analog and retro processing bundle
• D-Verb reverb and ambience processing
• Eleven hyper-realistic guitar amp emulation

• Maxim world-class peak limiting and sound level maximizing
• Moogerfooger Bundle four emulations combining analog effects with vintage synth modules
• Pro Compressor high-quality compressor that features “SMART” technology
• Pro Expander high-quality expander featuring “SMART” technology
• Pro Limiter high-quality transparent limiter
• Reel Tape Suite adds Reel Tape Delay and Reel Tape Flanger
• Reverb One world-class reverb processing
• SansAmp PSA-1 tube amp simulator
• Smack! fool-proof compressor and limiter
• Tel-Ray Variable Delay space-age delay and echo
• TimeAdjuster delay compensation, gain compensation, and phase inversion

Avid has also qualified AAX DSP plug-ins from Crane Song, McDSP, and Sonnox for use with S3L—see this blog post to get the details.

Customers purchasing a new S3L System will receive the VENUE 4.1.3 software update, VENUE 4.1.3 Standalone software, and plug-in installers for the new bundle in their Avid account when they activate their Avid S3L System Software & Plug-ins pack (included with the E3 engine). The iLok authorizations are deposited into their iLok account during this activation process. Instructions for downloading and installing the software are included with the pack.

Existing S3L System customers who have already activated their System Software & Plug-ins pack will receive the VENUE 4.1.3 software and plug-in installers directly in their Avid Account—we will also be sending an email to these customers, alerting them of their new software update and plug-ins. The iLok authorizations will be delivered directly into their iLok accounts.

Customers can access and install the software following these steps:

• Log into your Avid account.
• Click on Your Products.
• Under S3L Software Bundle, click Downloads.
• Click the Download link to the right of the VENUE 4.1.3 software update to download it to your computer.
• Once downloaded, transfer the VENUE Update folder to the root level of a USB flash drive.
• Power on your E3 engine and insert the USB drive into an available USB port.
• In VENUE software, enable CONFIG mode, navigate to the Options > System page, press the “Update” button, and follow the onscreen prompts to update to version 4.1.3.

The VENUE 4.1.3 software provides:

• A significant increase in the number and range of plug-ins provided with S3L Systems
• Double the supported plug-in capacity—from 20 rack slots to 40
• Support for a wider range of Avid plug-ins in 32-bit AAX DSP format
• Support for McDSP, Sonnox, and Crane Song plug-ins in 32-bit AAX DSP format
