Default Plugin/Insert application

Greetings. Pretty new to PT 12.5 but am wondering what kind of procedure to use to apply a plugin/insert to only a portion of a track. Say I have a 10 minute guitar track but only want to apply some reverb to a 2 minute portion of the track. Do I need to make a sub track or something? Thanks much...

Hi, welcome to the community.

You would likely do it by:

1) sending the guitar track to aux track where you have your reverb and automating either the send levels or the aux output
2) insert a reverb plugin to the guitar track and automate "mix" parameter from where you want it to start and end

Or AudioSuite if the plugin you want is there.

Of course, if you want to commit to that process at that time

One thing I learned with AS is to first duplicate the audio track. That way if I don't like what the effect did I still have the original audio to go back to. And if everything worked out I then delete the duplicate.

Thanks folks, got it figured out. The track duplication is a great safeguard...
