Default Group Delay compensation NFG

I am wondering if someone can walk me through the Group bus delay compensation feature on the S3Lx, I can't seem to get it to work.

I set up a plug in chain and because it was a parallel bus I wanted to delay the one Mix Group by 42 samples, so turned Delay on and adjusted, but nothing occurred. So, playing around with the Delay on the Mix Group and setting to 24,000 samples of delay (which would have been VERY noticeable) nothing happened at all.

Just in case I was missing a step I went into the System settings and tried the same after toggling the Auto Delay Compensation buttons (to all three buttons - off, on mix only, etc), but no audible difference.

NOTE: not sure if relevant but I know that Monitor delay works because I use it to offset my Monitors to FOH (typically in Feet) all the time.

Am I missing a step here? If someone can assist I would really appreciate it.

thx

It doesn't work, at least not when routed to the Matrix. LR, I don't know.
You need to insert a Plug-In (timeadjuster).

It's a bug.

Could you please explain full audio paths you set up that you expect to become time-aligned?

stereo channel 1 > stereo group 1 > matrix 1/2, 3/4
stereo channel 1 > stereo group 2 > matrix 1/2, 3/4 delayed
stereo channel 1 > stereo group 3 > matrix 5/6

Matrix 1/2 and 3/4 are PA FOH
Matrix 5/6 is L/R at the back of the stage (theatre).

Some music is played on the front (group 1), some on the back (group 3), but sometimes I want to use both (group 2 and 3), for that PA FOH have to be delayed to the position of the speakers in the back.

There is a delay function on the groups but it doesn't work in this case.

Interesting. I can call Avid I guess but if Avid techs are on these threads maybe someone can confirm that ipas and me are experiencing?

Jumping in on this. I think we are here talking about two different things. The automatic delay compensation system built in all VENUE systems vs the delay parameter available on group. Quite simply, the delay parameter / function is actually at the total end of the signal flow, just before physical patch actually. So yes it would not be in effect for earlier pick off points such as sending it to Matrix or LR. If that is needed, using a PI will do just great as the PI insert will be before the pick point. ADC (Automatic Delay Compensation) is a different thing. It will compensate if the same input signal is going to LR via two routes (direct to LR and via Group bus to LR)... a great video from Robert Scoville is available on this. It talks about ADV and Parallel compression. https://youtu.be/zyPUTxsuZN8

this doesn't sound like an ADC question, but rather a pickoff point question.

I would be willing to bet this:
The group delay when routed to LR works fine.
The group delay when routed to a Matrix does not?

I do believe the bug is that the pickoff for routing to Matrices is before that channel output delay. I may be mistaken, but I think that may be it, and yeah, that's definitely a bug if that's the case.
