Default Pro tools 12 with M-Audio 8 Interface Ext Clock

Hope someone can help. Have been using protools 12 for a little while now and sample rate was set to 44.1 khz. I imported an audio track which had been converted from MP4 to wav and somehow this has messed with the 'clock. When I come to open anything I have done before i am told the current playback engine does not support a sample rate of 44.1 khz. Everything is set to 48 Khz. This means I am unable open anything I have done in the last few months. Hugely frustrating but probably easy to solve.
