making a project sound like a project

hi everyone, at the moment im doing a project with quite a few songs and im limited with mixing time. im just wondering whats peoples advice and tips are for keeping the songs all sounding the same. all the songs are of similar style and the tracking is simple, drums, bass, double guitars a lead vox and minimal backing vocals

any advice would be great

If you are in a hurry, and want all the songs to sound the same, keep the settings of panning, eq, volume and other plugins the same for the whole project first. When it starts sounding good, some volume automation would make wonders.

1. Start with the same 'rough mix' before seperating your session into individual songs.

2. Save your plug-in settings and use those consistently.

3. Keep the same audio 'space' for your mixes (ie. GTR 1 panned just slightly left, vox centered, GTR 2 at 3'oclock right, for example). Visualize where each instrument sits as if it were a stage...

4. Pick you favorite mix and use as a reference. When mixing other songs, listen to that reference periodically to make sure you haven't veered to far from it.

5. Do your final mixing / mastering for the songs at the same time. Your ears will be more 'trained' to hear subtle differences between the songs.
