Default Can I open sessions made in HD, LE and M-powered?

here's the deal.

i'm considering buying an mbox2and using LE 7.3. a studio i use often has m-powered 7.3. will i be bale to move sessions back and forth between computers without issue. from LE - M-powered and back and forth?

Yes. I own both and have no problems going back and forth.

However,

About the "without issue" part, here are some things to consider;
  1. Different hardware has different capabilities with regards to the software. Some HD interfaces are capable of recording audio up to 192kHz, some M-Powered hardware and some other LE hardware is capable of recording audio up to 96kHz, but the mbox 2 can only handle 44.1 and 48. you would not be able to directly open sessions created at a higher sample rate and would have to convert
  2. HD systems have a higher possible track count. When opening these sessions on a lesser system (LE, MPowered) any tracks over the track limit will be disabled/inactivated
  3. any plugins in use on the other system that are not installed on yours will be disabled

As long as there is communication between the "studios", and the lowest common denominator of all hardware and software limitations are met in the sessions, "without issue" is true.

ah! great! thanks for the answer.

ok so now that i know i could transfer files here's my next question.

im going to buy a used mbox. the owner installed PT and some other software than came with it. can i just take his disc and serial number and install?

Check out the M-Box II Pro, it'll do 96k!
