Default the quality of your firewire cable DOES matter

this is just for everybody's reference

" the quality of your firewire cable DOES matter"

i recently reconfigured my whole studio and mooved my interface (profire 2626) to a new location which forced me to buy a new longer firewire cord. .....from 6ft to 9 ft .. @ local stores the only firewire cable i can find in this length was generic and cheap lookin, but i said "wut the hell" and bought it any way .... when i hooked up the cord and tested it out on my daw i was getting click pops and all sorts of strangeness ... returned the cord ordered a new quality cable at the same length off the net.... just hooked it up today and it works like a charm!!! so do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO CHEAP ON YOUR CABLES ESPECIALLY YOUR FIREWIRE CABLE !

*the cheap fw cable was frys generic brand it looked thick but it was flimsy with silver connectors
* the new cables brand is SHG its nice and solid with gold connectors

My motto has always been " A system is only as good as it's weakest link". For me that means all cables included.

Ditto for Ethernet cables - I go cat 6 all through my setup. Better to spend the bucks upfront then buy cheap (not inexpensive - there's a difference) and have to redo things.
