Digidesign HELP,my FREE update is NOT free!!! $140
Hello,
I received my free 6.1 update 3 weeks ago by DHL mail. Nothing wrong here. A week ago i received the 6.1 upgrade again by DHL mail, everybody can make a mistake. Today i received a letter from DHL demanding 70,94 euro from me, for the VAT from the upgrade Digidesign send me! 70,94 euro VAT!!! How can this be??? The invoice said the upgrade cost $295 (but free for me, bought me stuff in june), while Digidesign said it cost $100 (for users who bought stuff before april). Now i have to pay VAT for a product i received for FREE. I probably will get another letter in a few weeks demanding money for the other upgrade Digidesign send me by mistake! Is there anything i (or digidesign) can do to set this straight? I think it is a disgrace that i should pay VAT for free stuff, and certainly if i have to pay it twice because of a(nother) mistake! This FREE upgrade is going to cost me 140 euro!!! I live in Belgium by the way. |

dude, what a crap situation!! Especially considering all the hassels there have been with the new upgrade!
Cant offer any advise, wish i could. But whatever you do, dont pay the VAT matt |

AFAIK VAT is a percentage of the amount of money you pay for something. Since you payed nothing, the VAT should be nothing. 19% of 0 is still 0.
Call Digidesign Benelux at +31 (0) 73 613 8080 (the Benelux headquarters are located in the Netherlands...)

Thanx for the number, i will call them on monday.
I contacted DHL and they said Digi only paid VAT for one packet, and refused to pay for the packet they send me by mistake. So that leaves me with an upgrade i did not want, and extra costs for phonecalls i have to make to try to fix there mistake. The "good" news is, that IF Digi agrees, i can send them back the upgrade (on my costs), and they will pay the VAT to DHL. One of the reasons i bought Digi gear is because of the excelent costumer service and support i heard about, hope that this is not a myth! Make music NOT phonecalls!!! |
