Default iMac 5K or Mac Pro for my digi rack 003+ ?

I have this Pro Tools setup:

Digi rack 003+
Behringer Ultragain pro 8 digital (8 channel converter)
Behringer Ultragain pro (Mic preamp)

My old iMac from 2011 is kinda slow now, so it's time for me to get a new one.
But I'm really uncertain of whether to buy the new iMac 5k or the mac pro mainly because of the missing firewire ports.

If I buy the iMac 5K I will need the thunderbolt adapter, but when I read the reviews on apples site, it doesn't wanna make me buy that one. People are complaining about the lack of power the adapter is giving. And I'm often recording with all my 16 channels for drums, and I don't want any latency.

If I buy the mac pro I can connect it with the apple display that has firewire 800 on the back running through the thunderbolt cable. But I don't know if that will be the same problem as the adapter.

I hope that there is some of you that has tested this with lots of channels through a long period, so that I can feel more safe when buying my new mac.

Cause if the adapter is not a crap like those people say, I'm more into buying the iMac 5K as I feel I will get more value for the moneys

The Thunderbolt adapter has generally been working great for most people. It has mainly been an issue for devices that are buss powered by firewire, because it doesn't provide power. But that's not an issue for your 003 because it's powered by AC from the wall.

And there is no added latency either. It's no different than adding a firewire PCIe card in a Mac Pro. And the adapter does the exact same thing as the Thunderbolt dispay. They're both acting as Thunderbolt to firewire adapters.

^ I agree with the fellow Pro Tools user from Cincinnati. I use a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adapter for an MBox 2 Pro and have never had a problem.
