Default Guitar Won't Work - Fast Track Pro

I can't get my guitar to work. Mic works fine on the front panel XLR channels. My monitors are plugged in to TRS outputs 1 -2 and work fine. But when I plug my guitar into Inserts 1 or 2, nothing. What might be the problem? Thanks.

Fast Track Pro (latest drivers) - Windows 8.1 - 64 bit - 6 GB mem - Intel processor

So, did you create a new mono audio track?
Did you assign that mono audio tracks input?

What about the output did you assign the output of the channel?

I don't know that interface specifically but on some interfaces they have a switch to toggle between the mic pre-and the DI imput

YYR123, thanks for the reply.

My mic works without assigning anything to anything and without any DAW open (as it should be). I can tap on the mic and see the clip and signal lights flash therefore the Fast Track Pro is recognizing my mic. The same should be true for the guitar when I strum it or hit the strings but that is not the case.

Oh and when I do open my DAW (Sonar X3e) I can record with my mic. No signal whatsoever from the guitar.

Friend you're really going to have to dive into your tools a little bit more

See that instrument line switch, that needs to be set to instrument before your guitar will be passing audio

Also you're going to need to set up your ProTools input output scheme so that you assure yourself that you're going to get audio on the track that you want it and not just expect it to default work for you

I'm not using Pro Tools. Sonar X3e (DAW being open has no bearing on whether or not I'm getting a signal from my guitar). If I were getting a signal I could record to my DAW. I've pushed all buttons in/out - up/down but I get no signal from my guitar. Changed guitar cords, no luck there either. Thanks again.

Okay I got you

does your guitar/cable work in an amp? if so obviously you know your problem is not related to them

have you downloaded the manual for the Fastrack and read up on the section where they tell you how to connect your guitar

j, my guitar is a month and a half old. It was not working. But I plugged another one in and it was working but I still got the same thing with it.

I tripped over my headphones yesterday and my mixer was pulled to the floor. I have caused havoc to my computer and this may be the reason for the problem (not sure, though). Because I plugged another computer in and got the same thing. So I have some trouble shooting to do.

Plus I have some work I have to finish and can't spend anymore time on the Fast Track Pro. Thanks for your replies and hopefully I'll be back to this when I finish the other work.

Oh, I assumed a new purchase.....

So it did work for some amount of time prior.....

Seems weird that both inputs would go out, even if it did break when it fell....

I was using a M-Audio Audiophile 192 64-Bit PCI Audio Interface when I tripped. After that I started using the Fast Track Pro. The Fast Track Pro used to work but after I bought it I went back to the Audiophile 192 because I preferred it. It used to work so I'm not sure what has happened. After some troubleshooting I think I have a computer problem. Will go more in depth when I finish some projects I'm working on.
