How to play CDs thru Digi System Speakers?

I would like to listen to some CDs through my Mackie speakers to compare mixes and tones in my recordings to other professional mixes.

How can I get the CD to play through Digi 001 and my monitors?

Is there a way to route the signal internally, or do I need another CD player in addition to my system's DVD Ram, and my outboard CD burner?

How do you all compare mixes?

Which CPU are you using?

On G4's and B&W G3's, you should be able to get the CD's to play through the 001 digitally.

On earlier systems, you'll need to patch the computer's sound output into the 001's input somehow.

Or you can use a shareware called "RetroCD" to play CD's digitally.

Another shareware alternative to the AppleCD Audio Player is MVP by Qdesign ( http://mvp.qdesign.com/default.htm ). I think that SoundJam MP will also avoid the Sound Manager and go straight to the Digi001, provided that Digidesign is selected instead of Built-in in the Sound control panel.
