Artist only works with one specific cable
I've tried connecting my Artist Control V3.1.2 using over 5 different cables of varying types (Cat5e, Cat6 etc).
Eucon says there is a network error and unable to connect every time unless I use this specific Cat6 cable that i installed Eucon on originally. Any idea why this is? I'm going into a hub and then into my computer. I know it sounds ridiculous but the unit works fine with this specific cable. and its a major hassle that I haven't been able to upgrade to a longer cable.

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
Does this help?:
"Euphonix Artist Series control surfaces ship with an ethernet crossover cable to connect directly to your Macintosh computer or local area network. If your Macintosh computer is pre 2002, you must connect using a crossover ethernet cable. Post 2002 Macs can connect using either a normal or crossover Ethernet cable. Refer to your User Guide page 17 for more information." You're on Windows, but maybe the crossover cable indeed is the culprit?

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
true, although I don't believe any of the cables are cross over cables. What's hilarious is I ended up daisy chaining 2 switches so that I could keep the good cable connected to the Artist Control. If i swaped the good cable for the one that was connecting the two switches, it wouldnt work, but as long as the good cable is the first one in the sequence it works....go figure. the Eucon likes its cable and wont put up with anything else now....

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
Yes it is very important to use the cable type that came with the artist series as it is the one collecting and tranfering all the data to the switch/router/computer and if you chain more units you don't need the same ethernet cable as the one connected to the artist unit. Thats somewhat complex but glad you got it connected and working
Best Regards Christopher PS. Eucon and the whole ethernet system is finnicky as Hell and it takes a few tries to get these units running, the Eucon software is a nightmare and we have had such luck with our 4 units that people almost thought we were lying at one point when everyone seemed to have issues connecting their units.

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
I got rid of my Artist mix, because it was just ridiculous. So many issues with this stupid protocol.
That was, when the face plate was silver and the brand was Euphonix. Did anything change for the better since then?

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
I have no issues at all, with a Mix and a Transport. I use fixed IP addresses and a dedicated ethernet card. I have a small Gigabit switch and cat 5e cables I made up.
Wish it could be so easy for everyone.

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
As with most things network, a static ip is the way to go. My Artist unit hasn't given me any trouble on a static ip going through a switch with whatever cables are handy.

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
On Windows, a crossover cable is recommended for EUCON connectivity, whether it's the supplied cable or third-party.

Re: Artist only works with one specific cable
Because most modern switches are auto-sensing, it doesn't really matter you know?
