Default Can\'t hear my gear when 888/24 IO is stand alone

Hi all,

I am running PT 5.0.1 mix with an 888/24, on a G4, I have my gear going straight into the 888/24 then into a mixer. When I am running PT I have no problems hearing my gear but when I don't have PT running I can't hear my gear, I can see the meters but no sound, I read the book for the 888 and followed the directions by turning on the 888 first and then my synths and nothing! I don't have the computer on or anything like that, I do have a MOTU XT which I turn on after the 888 fully boots up then my synths.

Any help would be awesomely appreciated,

Thanks,
R.J.

Per the manual:
"In this mode you will use analog inputs 1-8 and AES/EBU outputs 1-8."

-Are you outputting the 888/24 to a digital device which accepts AES/EBU?

I am going into a Alesis Studio 32 analog board, does this mean that I can only use the 888/24 IO stand alone if it is going out to a digital board? I don't think the Alesis will accept AES/EBU.

The 888/24 can only function as either a standalone A/D or D/A converter...but not both simultaneously. Since the Studio32 is an analog console (as well as your synths), you need it to perform an A/D/A conversion, which will not work in standalone mode.
