Default External USB2.0 drives as Audio recording drives

Hi,

Would like to clarify if it's possible to use external USB2.0 hard drives in a Pro Tools Mac OS environment to record audio directly?

Since the new Mac Pro has all the ports available - 1394a, 1394b and USB2.0, it would be much cheaper to get just an USB2.0 casing and mount an internal IDE/SATA drive there.

Are there any compatibility issues with USB2.0 drives that i ought to be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Oh yes...it would be good if users could post your working config.

Like which external enclosure u used successfully?
The chipset used in that enclosure?
The max number of tracks that could be recorded simultaneously?

Thanks.
