Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.
When i use the grabber tool to pull out a fade, or adjust the position of a crossfade the automation doesn't follow as normal. The same happens when i use the smart tool to create a new fade. Automation follows edit is on. Am i missing something or is there a serious bug with basic editing functionality?
this seems to have only started since upgrading to 2019.10 |

Hi, Crossfades are separate from automation and are applied to the clip, so you won't see a fader move during a crossfade. "Automation Follows Edit" has to do with whether or not the automation associated with a clip follows the clip when edited - such as when you cut and paste a clip, the automation will follow that clip if that option is enabled.

Re: Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.
Hi Chris, thanks for your response.
To be clear, when i nudge a fade on a clip using the keyboard commands it moves the level automation breakpoints with it, but when i manually move a clip fade using the grabber tool the breakpoints do not move with it. PT 2019.10 |

Re: Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.
Hi, welcome to the forum. Any chance you could post a screenshot of the two situations that seem to function differently?

That doesn't look good.

Re: Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.
Confirmed and logged,
also affects panning and (probably) other automation. Rolling back to 2019.6. |

Re: Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.
Is this being looked at Avid? Same problem in 2020.3... my latest mix has broken automation all over it.

Re: Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.
Automation doesn't move on ctrl+cmd+T (trim to file boundaries) either. Don't know if it ever did but in my opinion it should.
