Default From sound card into Digi 001?

I'm trying to get the sound out of my sound card and into my Digi 001. This is do-able, right? I mean, I want to use my great HR824 monitor to listen to everything on my PC.

So, what I'm looking at is 1/8 mini stereo out of the sound card and (I guess) the S/PDIF in on the back of my Digi, right?

I found cables to match it up, but no sound is coming out of my speakers. Is there a trick to this or is that not what the S/PDIF on the Digi is for?

Thanks for any help.

Ron

First of all, why not go straight from 001 to your HR´s? Why use another soundcard? I use my 001 as the soundcard for all the apps on my PC.

1/8 inch plug to S/Pdif? Wrong. The reason you´re not getting any sound is that the jack on your soundcard is sending an analog signal and S/Pdif is digital only.

God, I wish people would read their manuals more...

I am going from my Digi into my HR monitors. I was really trying to avoid having a sound card as everything was fine.. audio files, CD's were all playing through the Digi.

But then I wanted to use a TV tuner card. In order to capture the audio when recording TV, it required an audio card be present to capture the audio.

There are a couple of things that are confusing:

1) why can I not get to sound volumes in Windows with just the Digi I/O installed? It seems to require a sound card for that.

2) How is it that my CD player plays through my Digi but I can't get the audio signal coming into my TV tuner card to route to it?

Anyway, thanks for any comments.

rscook, I don't think yu can do what you want to do by using S/PDID without actually opening up PTLE and opening an aux channel with the S/PDIF selected for input. It may be easier to try and get the TV device to recgonize the digi 001. There should be some settings for your TV Card where you can set the sound output for the card. If you can find this, then set it to the Digi 001 (analog output 1-2).

On the other hand, Digi does work fine with S/PDIF and you should be able to route digital sound output by means of S/PDIF, but your setting have to be correct in both Windows and the Digi 001. It would be much easier to do what you want by using analog, or just plug your TV card directly into the amp (or mixer) to get your sound.
