Mbox 1 + Traktor Scratch
Hello!
First of all, I want to apologize for my english - I'm german and it won't be perfect. I know that this has been asked before, but I really don't get any further. After searching some hours on Google and in forums, my last idea is to turn to you, hopefully wise community members, who can give me an idea what to try next! I bought an old mbox via ebay for my university studies where we work with ProTools. Now I thought: "Hey - in general, this thing is an audio interface - normally it should work with programs like Traktor Scratch aswell! That would mean not having to buy an expensive extra hardware to do some DJing!" I connected the mbox with my MacBook and my DJ-Mixer. But in the Traktor settings, it's not possible to choose the mbox for output signal! Please help me if you know what to do! Greets from Germany! |

Re: Mbox 1 + Traktor Scratch
The mbox can be used for applications other than PT.
An app called "Digidesign Coreaudio Manager" should have been installed when you installed PT. If it was, then you should have the option to select it as sound device in the sound preferences. If it wasn't installed, you will find it on the PT installer disk using "custum installation". Be aware that it can only serve one app at a time, and is known for being unstable. That's why it's been many years since I bothered with it. But try it. Good luck. I found the users guide for it: Digidesign CoreAudio Driver Usage Guide

Re: Mbox 1 + Traktor Scratch
Thanks so much for your help!
I've been testing things the whole day and this is the outcome: I found a tool called "Ploytec USB ASIO Driver" which worked fine with Traktor&VirtualDJ, and even listed the Mbox in the "Audio"- and "Audio-Midi-Setup"-Configurations of my OS X. Only Problem: This thing's shareware and the full version costs 57$. After uninstalling, I searched again for an original driver for my mbox. The "Digi Core Audio Driver" came with the pro tools installation - but I just tried this "Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Drivers v7.4.2 for Mac OS X 10.5.3 (Leopard)"-version. http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...0&printview=N& With this one, surprisingly, my mbox works with Traktor Scratch and Virtual DJ!! It's just weird that the Mbox is still not listed in "Audio" nor "Audio-Midi-Setup"... I connected the mbox with my DJ-mixing console and it sounded very crappy - but it actually sounded! I'm quite happy now and obtained further motivation to deal with the bad sound. I guess it has something to do with mono/stereo. So, hopefully someone, someday, with the same problem, will read this and knows how to deal with it! ;-) |
