Same problem for me and very frustrating. I reloaded 12.8.1 after removing and deleting 12.8.2 and now my VCAs are active again as they were before.
Glad this was a simple fix I could do myself.
12.8.3 is probably on the next horizon.

Default 12.8.2 Broke VCA tracks?

Luckily it’s very easy to re-install 12.8.1. A new version will be coming very soon.

Makes sense. Thanks

I received an email from AVID, apparently the bug is in build 12.8.2.105
According to the email the new build 12.8.2.106 is now available for download on your account.

......I just tried tor re-install following AVID instruction but I am still getting 12.8.2.105 with the VCA bug, so doesn't look like the new build is actually up as they claim... hopefully tomorrow.

Haven't gotten that email yet. Will try and download 12 and see what happens. Is there any way to see the build number before installing?

I just received an email from AVID Customer Care stating that an update will be released Friday morning/afternoon.

A fix for the VCA issue in PT-234549 will be available in a re-post of PT 12.8.2 sometime tomorrow morning. I recommend checking your Avid account or Application Manager in the afternoon to download the new version.

Thank you for contacting Avid support.

We apologize for the inconvenience, there was an issue with the initial release of Pro Tools 12.8.2 where Pro Tools software (non-HD) would not be able to use VCA's. This was fixed in a second build of 12.8.2 that was released immediately thereafter (now available in the Avid Account for customers with active Upgrade Plan).

The initial release with the problem was 12.8.2.105; the fixed version is 12.8.2.106. To determine which version of 12.8.2 you have, you can Get Info (Mac) or Properties (Win) on the Pro Tools application. The build number has also been added to the Pro Tools splash screen that appears when you launch the application (only for the fixed version 12.8.2x106).

Customer can try to uninstall the previously installed Pro Tools 12.8.2 by deleting it from the applications folder then re-download and install a new one from his Avid account which has the new build that has fix for the issue.

Let us know how it works.
