Exclamation A Violation Error Has Occurred (HELP PLEASE!)

Hello,

I know this is an old topic that has already been discussed, but I haven't found any solutions. I really hope I get an answer here, and thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

I bought Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 with an MBox 2 Mini about a week ago. I've since upgraded to 8.0.4, hoping it would somehow get rid of the problem I'm about to outline. It didn't help.

Seemingly randomly, and far too often, while using Pro Tools, I get an error message saying A Violation Error Has Occurred. Pro Tools generally crashes within a minute of this message.
I'm not trying anything strange. Just recording guitar and vocals. I don't have any third-party plugins. I've barely had the chance to use built-in plugins. I don't have anything else running. In fact sometimes I reboot and turn off Airport before opening Pro Tools, just to feel like I'm running it on something of a clean slate.

Just this evening, this error was followed by another error message, telling me "Segmentation fault" in thread "MainThread", at address 0x0. I promptly clicked "OK" and Pro Tools promptly crashed.

I have tried deleting the .dbb file.
I haven't tried un-and-re-installing.

System is:
iMac Intel 2GHz Core Duo.
1.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS 10.6.4
MBox 2 Mini. Pro Tools LE 8.0.4

1. Try repairing permissions.
2. Get more memory.

Thanks for the suggestions. Alas...

1. Oh yeah, I tried that too.
2. I know that 1.5 gigs of ram isn't heaps by today's standards. But I can get a good 8 or more channels going in Garageband and Logic Pro. Surely I should be able to tinker with Pro Tools?

Anything, anyone? Is there more info I can give to make this easier? I would love a resolution to this that doesn't = buying a new computer.

I've now also tried changing buffer size. Pro Tools is still being a total bastard.

Surely someone has something for me? Gosh I hope so...

This place was strangely unhelpful.

Well, I've got a new iMac and the problem has gone away.
Now the new problem of ever-deepening debt...
