Default Couple of help questions

finally started using pro tools (m powered v7)
everythibng has been going well, but a coupl eof problems i really wanna sort out.

how can i blend clips (overlay so that nothing gets pushed or cropped)?

i understand real time automation, but what is the best way to mix a track individual parts - say i wanted to raise the volume of the bass in a small section?

stupidly at the the start of a track, i made the length of song far far too long, track is now complete and when i bounce down it tries to do all the empty data at end of track (but i can't seem to just highlight the empty space and delete it)

Wow.

Pro Tools doesn't do that. You would need to use separate tracks and then mix between them.

If a single track has "individual parts" but has already been mixed, then you can't. The only real thing you could do is EQ it so the bass is more prominent, but that will EQ all of the other parts as well. That's not a limitation of Po Tools, that's just an audio fact.

Pro Tools will only bounce the selected data, so just select only the area you are trying to bounce.

Um, yeah, that's usually how it's done.

You can either record real-time movements with a controller, or draw on the automation with the pencil tool while in the proper track view (volume, pan, etc)

so lets say i want just a small section raised in volume and then have it go back to normal,
i don't want to enable real time automation because it will also record me manually moving the fader up an down,
the only other way is to use the pencil tool? it doesn't seem very precise, i will give it a go an see what happens.

Editing with the pencil tool, the grabber tool and the trim tool in grid mode is actually the most precise way to create automation. WAY more precise than doing it manually.

There are other ways to achieve what you are attempting to do, though. One of them is selecting the section and running the gain audio-suite plugin on it.

Automation is easier to maintain/change/update, though.
