G4 dual 1.25 CPU, hard drive capacity

1.Can any one tell me whci is the most advisable hard drive(s) that work the best ina G4 mirror door?

2.And also how big a hard drive (in gig) will it read up to?... as i had an issue with my G3, i know it's old, but i'd rather understand why it only read 137gigs out of a 250gig drive?..

3.Can i put an ATA drive in my G4 other than an IDE, whats the difference?
