Default Digi Help! Reel Tape Saturation

Machine: Intel macbook Pro 2.33 with 3 gigs of RAM, running Mac OSX 10.4.11 (I know it's not supported).

PTLE Rigs: PTLE 7.4 running on a Digi 003 factory (not the rack) and an Mbox 2Pro. (at seperate times obviously)

Purchased plugins: Music Production toolkit, Waves SSL bundle, Waves L3LL, Reel Tape Saturation

Drives: Lacie 100 gig drive, firewire 400/800 and USB 2.0. Also a Lacie 1.3 Terabyte Drive, firewire 400/800 and USB 2.0.

Method of Use: 1. Portable rig (macbook pro firewire 400 to mbox 2 pro, 100 gig drive using the 2nd firewire 400 port on the back of the mbox 2 pro).

2. Stationary rig (macbook pro firewire 400 to 003 board, 100 gig drive firewire 800 from the macbook, and 1.3 Terabyte drive firewire 400 from the 2nd port on the 003). I only record and playback from the 100 gig Lacie drive, and use only the supported firewire ports to do so (400 with the mbox's, and 800 with the 003). I only use the 1.3 terabyte drive to transfer files (backup drive), and don't use the internal macbook pro drive for anything but OS and PTLE....no other programs going on. This is a PTLE machine only.

Problem: Let me start by saying I'm very experienced with Pro Tools on any platform. I have not had any problems with my PTLE rig above until I upgraded to OSX 10.4.11 and PTLE 7.4. When I opened previous sessions and pressed play, I immediately get a range of errors (using both the Mbox 2 pro and the 003) - DAE cannot get audio fast enough, drive is too fragmented, increase buffer size, decrease buffer size, etc. I started troubleshooting everything, first with updates (updated Music Production Toolkit, and there are no waves or Reel Tape updates yet). Same errors....I then went to the OS, and repaired permissions and made sure my mac optimizations were right (energy saver, etc)....same errors........I went to the drives and tried recording/playback from each of my 3 drives......same errors........I then went to PTLE, trashed preferences....same errors.... I then opened a new session, 6 tracks at 96K/24 bit. I hit record on all 6 tracks, no problems.....recorded for 123 minutes.....playback no problems........so I went to plugins next...one by one.....they all work except for Reel Tape Saturation. Everytime there is even one instance on a track I get the rull range of DAE errors. Tried re-installing the initial (and only) release of Reel Tape Saturation....same errors. I went to all my old sessions again and hit play......dae errors.......I BYPASS the Reel Tape Saturation (sometimes 1 per channel) and everything runs fine, everytime. I remove the plugins altogether, everything runs fine. I add one on any channel and BAM!!! Will not play any audio...just errors....I even played with the buffer sizes on both cards, and keep in mind that I restarted inbetween every troubleshooting step I did....the only problem is with an UN-BYPASSED instance of Reel Tape Saturation on an audio track. So, right now with the system and methods mentioned above, everything is FLAWLESS (as in will not stop) except for Reel Tape Saturation. Help!!! I love that sound......and I bought it.......and it's a Digi Plugin!!! Thanks for any help. Peace.

Bump....come on Digi!! Is anyone else using Reel Tape and PTLE 7.4 on an intel mac with OSX 10.4.11 just fine? If so, I'd like to know what else you have in your system...

I tried it right now. Exchanged five instances of other tape emulators with Reel Tape, and at least playback worked fine. Can you recreate your problem?

The problem is resolved...I installed the 7.4cs update and no longer have the issue. All of my sessions work as they did before. Thanks digi!! I know the update had nothing to do with this....but it did fix my problem. Peace
