Default SC48 with profile in control?

I've been looking around but not finding this. Is there a way to put an sc48 at monitors and a profile (controller only) at FOH? There are issues of cd/ipod playback/talkback from FOH (which can be remedied with a small copper snake) and some plugin count/channel count considerations. But I'm thinking it could be an intermediate step on the way to a full profile system?

Hi Drew,

If I read your message correctly, what you want to do is use an SC48 on stage and use the SC48's inputs to control from a Profile controller at the same time for FOH. Correct ?

Short answer : No. This will not work.

Slighter longer version :

You have to look at each system and it's components seperately and try to see the concept behind this.

Current Venue systemes are :

- Venue D Show : D Show controller + FOH Rack + Stage Rack
- Venue Profile : Profile controller + FOH Rack + Stage Rack

These would be the 'bigger' systems. Full blown / max I/O and DSP capabilities / seperate stage Rack etc ...

- Venue Mix Rack : Profile Controller + Mix Rack

Look at the mix rack as combination of FOH Rack and Stage Rack in one big box. Combined with a Profile surface.

- Venyue SC48 :

The combination of Controller / Stage Rack and FOH rack in one compact unit / console.

All of the above system are very similar, if not the same from an operational point of view. They run the same D Show Software. You can interchange show files keeping physical system limitations in mind etc.

All of these systems - again each within their own limitations - can handle the simultaneous task of doing FOH and monitors from the same system. (In fact there's part 2 of a webinar series on that exact topic coming up tomorrow : http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...4&itemid=31029)

But in the end you have to look at each and every system as their own set in which all parts of that particular system need to be present in order to work. Or at least in order to set up supported configurations. In other words, You cannot use an SC 48 and then just add the controller part of another system to work in conjunction with that SC48.

Hope that makes sense.

Chris
