Default I fried my 001! (tech question)

Hi. I I think I fried my input #3 with a very high level of signal. What is there to be changed? The TL074? Or the ADC? There is little level coming thru..

Mundoz,

I have a problem with very low level on analog ins 3 and 4 on my 001. I haven't taken the time to troubleshoot it, since I was using the ADAT inputs with a Tango 24 converter, but I am concerned. I was thinking that it might have just been a misconfiguration, (I was in a hurry and am just a beginner to boot.)

I too, would like to know if there are any known issues or hardware problems with the 001, and if there are any fixes. (I'm out of warranty, so its a little late to send it back to Digi.)

Thanks for any help if anyone has ideas.

There is a sort of known issue with the 001 and bad solder connections to the PCB on the connectors, whcih over time can cause low level. try wiggling the connector in the unit while sending signal through it. If it cuts in/out, gets louder/quieter, you need to open the unit and resolder the connections from the connector onto the printed circuit board(PCB).

Also, inputs 3-8 have a software sensitivity adjustment in the setup menu. Make sure they are set to the proper sensitivity for the level you are inputting to them.

Don´t fry your 001. Imagine the look of the beautiful faceplate after that action...

Like where said: it´s a known issue. Mostly all of my buddies with a 001 had this problem (me too).
Just open the box resolder the connections and you´re ready to go.

Resolder ALL the PC board to connector points, not just the ones that are problematic.

Have they always had low levels, or did it just all of a sudden happen one day?

It's a sudden thing, as the poor quality solder point begins to fail. sometimes you begin to get low levels, or intermittant levels, or no level at all.

Cheap labor, cheap wave soldering machines.
