Default sorting waves plugins in 12

I'm overwhelmed with plugin choices and need to thin down the list to ones I use.. It's easy enough for the UAD and Avid choices just to move them from Library>Application Support>Avid>Audio>then to the unused folder.

Waves is a different issue as they use an Axx plugin that directs PT to a folder in a different location in the Application Folder. I tried moving those but it only made an alias in the unused folder.

Didn't want to force the issue without asking around to see if anyone else has done this successfully. Running PT12 on a Mac with OS 10.11.6
Thanks

Hi friend !

This was really a pain for me for years . Now with the last PT version there is a search function that you can easily call the plugins .This is really a game changer and a very , very useful feature . Now i don't have to spend time on that big menus like waves and uad have looking for a plugin .

Just uninstall all the plugins and install back only the ones you use, that will also reduce the boot time of PT. You will have to make sure the AAX is deleted from the PT folder as some installers don't remove everything.

The waves installer won't let me do individuals within the Gold bundle and all the individually purchased plugins are ones I use. In the gold bundle I use maybe 6 things these days.

True.

Pro Tools 2018.7 is the first version to include the search function.

Moving the plugins works (you may have to do a Waves Shell scan after moving the plugins to get them to disappear) but since it is a system protected folder, you have to move it differently.

Select the plugins, choose copy, then go to the new location for where you want to move them, right click, and then hold option down and it will show "Move" instead of paste.

How to rescan the Waves plugins after you moved the ones you want out:

If it's not too many plug-ins, just put them in the "Favorites" list above the plug-ins.

I ended up making a copy of the existing folder for backup and then just went in and deleted the stuff I never use. So far no issues whatsoever.
