Why does my mouse bog down and freeze when my midi controller is plugged in?

Hey thanks in advance for any advice on my little problem

So recently my pro tool's 8 has started having a problem. As soon as PT loads on a fresh reboot, the computer starts bogging down to the point of the mouse just barely moving and staying frozen most of the time.

I've traced the problem to my USB midi controller (MOTIF 8) and every thing runs fine when it's not plugged in but without fail basically freezes up the mouse till I unplug it. Weird I know since it was working just fine. I am running the 8.0.5 version with the most updated yamaha drivers I could locate.

total bummer since I really like this keyboard and everything appears to work fine. and YES Im still getting midi data normally even while the mouse freezes up. it seems like it's the USB bus and maybe a weird resource issue?

ideas ?

Running a Motif es8 here. I never had any success trying to use the USB connection so I run midi cables to/from mine and I've never had an issue. If you already used the midi ports on the 002, the MOTU Fastlane USB works great here(my 003 midi is used for a Roland TD10 kit).
