Please note that while Pro Tools | HD 12 can be used as standalone software, it only works with Pro Tools | HDX and Pro Tools | HD Native hardware (trade in your old hardware and save). An iLok 2 USB key (not included) is required to use the software.

Am I to understand from the above that if I purchase an HD12 upgrade for my current system that I will be un-able to use the MBox pro interface with the software???????

Based on the "trade in your old hardware" comment I'd say this is referring more to the fact that HD 12 does not run on the previous gen (Accel) hardware. Looks like this is quoted from here, but please let me know if you saw this elsewhere.

I use HD 11 with MBox Pro 2.
V2 Specific 11 Drivers to remove audio pass through is the only issue.
(Still hear input with no audio track in record nor Aux tracks....)
I calibrate all outboard gear with Version HD10)
Mac MINI i7, 16GB, OS 10.9.5 PT's 11.3.1
(Stereo and Surround 5.1)

HD12 works with any interface, just like HD 9,10,or 11. That quote is just a poorly worded way to warn TDM system owners that their hardware won't work with HD12.
