Default H/W error trying to use inserts

Hi I'm running Pro Tools 8.03 M-Powered with a Fast Track Pro.

I've been using Pro Tools for about 3 years now but I decided to borrow a compressor from a friend and try it out.

When i click under the inserts section and choose the proper insert 1 is that I keep getting ""The H/W insert could not be made active because its output(s) is being used by another active output or insert." for both Insert 1, and Insert 2.

Please someone help I went through the search of DUC and people had the problem but I either couldn't understand if they actually fixed it or they didn't say how or if they did.

someone please help me.

I'm running

Mac OSX 10.6.4

Thanks.
