Default Tascam DM3200 or DM 4800 working with Pro Tools 11

I was wondering about Pro Tools 11 usage with the DM line of control surfaces and interfaces from Tascam working into Pro Tools, looking at my options before I upgrade to Pro Tools 11, I have these Consoles priced way below the new C24, and according to Avid the old Control 24 is no longer supported or will not work, need to know if the Tascam console work in Pro Tools 11, budget is not up there yet to go and purchase a a new C24.

Still using my Digi 002. once i have everything in place the Tascam board will be my main mixer/console for my actual studio set up

I have a DM-4800 and have used both Pro Tools 10 and 11.

Having said that, I have never gotten the MTC code to properly related between PT and the Tascam. Tascam is not helpful with any support and it takes an act of congress to get them to respond.

They are still using the same firmware version in their console that was out 3 years ago. They don't maintain their documentation or software, even to match PT 9.

As long as it is simply a control surface, then it is usable. Too bad Tascam doesn't support their current products better.

Do you have the transport working correctly in 11?

I had everything working in 10 just fine. I just install 11 and the transport doesn't work. ff & rew work, but not play and record.

any thoughts?

Fixed, changed the hardware buffer setting to 512 then back to 1024, weird but it is working now

I have a DM3200 and am having no issues with PT 11.

Did you check to make sure that the DM is still selected as your HUI controller in the peripherals screen?

True they haven't updated anything in years but if its not broke, don't fix it.

MTC also working with no issues here.
When I get home today if you want I can take some screen shots of the MTC settings, just let me know.
Oh I should mention I'm using it with a Mac.
When i was on windows I had issues getting the MTC to sync.

Does the meter bridge work in PT? And can you flip faders to control sends?

I do not have a meter bridge but I use the LCD, same data. It seems to be the same levels I see in pro tools, if not it is close enough.

The way my rig is configured the remote layer handles the DAW. layers 1-24 and 25-48 the faders control what is coming out the output, this means I can adjust the monitor mix for whoever is recording and not effect the record levels set by the gain pots. Seems to work well for my work flow anyway.

The meter bridge will show Pro Tools track levels of the tracks you are passing audio through to the DM.
So if you mix in the box and have a 2 track output coming out of Pro Tools to monitor on the DM you will see the level of the 2 track only.
If you setup 32 outputs from PT and assign them to 32 individual tracks in the DM you will see the audio level of the 32 tracks you are sending the audio for to the DM.
Basically you will see levels for what you send to the DM.
You won't see Pro Tools track levels on the DM or the meter bridge unless you physically route the audio to the DM.
As for the level sends, I think it works like that, I know I used it like that in Cubase put I don't think I ever tried it in Pro Tools. It's all based on HUI protocol so technically it should work.

I've been looking for a way to get this done on my 4800 for several months and just found this tutorial: Pro Tools MIDI Control with the DM4800/DM3200. The YouTube video is made by the author of that post.
