Default waves renEQ as a notch filter NOISE!!!!

Here is the issue:
When using a waves renEQ as a notch filter, and then moving the frequency of that filter, theres is an incredibly loud and annoying noise...a popping and crackling

I am using Protools 7 LE 88.2khz 24bit sessions.

What causes this? I can use the digidesign digirack EQIII plug as a notch filter and move the freq without getting this noise.
