Behringer Xtouch Compact Universal Usbmidi Controller

Hello all,
This Behringer Control surface seems like a decent replacement for the 'Ol Project Mix I/O I had. I love having the touch sensitive faders. So, I saw a video by a sound engineer talking about this Xtouch Compact. The guy wasn't thrilled because it didn't have full HUI support from Avid and that not all the Control surface can be controlled in Pro Tools mode. Does anyone have any experience with this particular unit with PT11.3.1 and up? Thanks for any insight everyonne, RichrdC

HUI protocol is almost 20 yrs old now and I would look at either Artist series or any Eucon controller if you wanna use PT 12 and onwards. Or PT11 as you said.

Same with Nucleus SSL so I would stay with the i/o mix if it works and save up for a better unit. Those Behringers didn't take off at all. Look into tye Presonus Faderport 8 or 16. Priced very well.

Thanks Christopher, It just so happens I've been spending time looking at the Presonus Faderport 8. It doesn't seem to have total Pro tools HUI protocol when working in Windows 10 either. Please tell me otherwise because I'd really like to stay near this price range. What's out there in the $700 range?

I agree with Chris, The Artist Mix is really good for what it is......

8 Motorized Touch sensitive faders
pan Control on deck
Some.....Plugin Control
Mutes and solos....

Eucon has improved and they release updates all the time. Usually 2x what PT is releasing updates for.


But keep in mind this is not a $5k surface, nor is it a $10 surface.....it is basic but really nice.

I owned the Artist Control for a while.....(only 4 faders)


I have seen in the recent past this surface for $700, but I guess that was a special....

So it seems the xtouch has a ways to go before it's really compatible with PT to the point you don't have to think about it crashing.. So, I came across this, but is it now compatible with Windows 10?

It is on many many mixing tables as the artist series is made for PT and integrated best of all the mid priced controllers.

You can start with one Mix and build out as you go. I think it is limited to 4 artist units so you can have 32 fader setup or as we had before buying bigger. We had two Artist Mix and One Artist Control aswell as one Avid Transport which made it 20 faders and a very good transport unit aswell as the Control which has Touch Screen with a LOT of settings and user customizations on it.

A used Artist Mix will run about 500 USD which is a GREAT option and very well made. Works with PT12 and onwards. Also the free PT App for iPads works great with the Artist Series
