Great. Except why the hell did I just buy the XL version which apparently "only" adds TDM which is completely useless for me? (...banging my head on the table)

You guys that have Altiverb, is it better than the other convolution reverbs, particularly Waves IR-1?

Thanks

To me, most convolution reverbs sound very similar. The difference is mostly in the actual IR samples you use with them.

Altiverb is king of Convolution Hill. Always has been.

I use Waves IR, AltiVerb and Space. AltiVerb (especially v 7) has the best interface of all 3. Space has the most IRs and was my main go to until AltiVerb 7 which has pretty much the same core of IRs as 6 but the interface is much more user friendly. Waves has minimal IRs. Never have made my own IRs for any so I can't attest to that process. Sonically AltiVerb and Space are pretty close. AV6 and earlier were CPU hogs natively but 7 is more efficient. There is also a feature in 7 that allows the user to manipulate the width of perceived stereo field by "moving" speaker icons.

I had to use Waves while at a post house I do jobs for and was disappointed they don't have AltiVerb (and I left my ilok at home).

Now I can finally move forward with my 11 upgrade!

Definitely. I have TL space and Wave IR-1 but Altiverb 7 comes with a huge IR library that expand every day. This make it a much better option. The Interface is great and it's really easy to find what you're looking for with the search feature.

XL gives you multichannel capabilities. Non-XL is stereo only.
Isn't that the whole point of the XL version?
