Default Can this laptop run protools

I need a laptop for college that can run protools, but I do not want to buy one of those monster laptops with a 4 hour battery. Will this one be able to run protools for moderate to moderately intensive usage?

I don't see why it couldn't. The only "low point" is that 15watts 2 cores i7 but i'm sure it is OK for moderate use.

Pretty close in price to the 13" MacBook Pro Retina. Might want to compare the specific port configuration and screen performance. I like thunderbolt.

Almost any computer will run Pro Tools to an extent.
This is JUST my opinion but I when I first started with Pro Tools in 2010 I had a pretty nice Dell laptop.
I bought Pro Tools as a newbie.
After recording my 3rd track Pro Tools would no longer run.
I had no idea that it wasn't like most programs, you just load it up and it works.
It is pretty finicky.
Since then I have NEVER used a computer that was NOT on the compatibility list.
Again, just an opinion.
It may be fine, I don't know.

As the above commentor mentioned TB is a good thing but not enough to make you over pay for the mac. Also I suspect that this since it has one dimm has a second empty slot. RAM makes a bigger difference. I would look into that but since its costco you have nothing to lose because they take stuff back no questions asked. So give it a try and if you dont like it return it. I do love the UAudio gear which offloads a lot of processing to its units if you are into their stuff and they run USB 3 units as well as TB so you have options.

What I like about Macs is that the stuff seems to be more seamless. What I dislike is that you overpay for percieved stability. But owning both a Macbook and a Mac Pro I can tell you they are IMO no better than a properly configured Windows system. I do suggest you flatten the windows unit right away and format the drive. Bloatware they like to add will really slow you down. Peter
