Default Samsung 850,,, Pro, or Evo?

I'm doing a search now, but although I'm sure its here somewhere, I haven't found it yet. Newegg is having a sale this week for the 850 Pro, but the Evo is still 70.00 less. (For the 512, 500 Evo). So, does any one know the main difference and how that affects us in the studio?
Thanks,,,,,, Mike

Pro's have twice the warranty. Pro's have a bit faster transfer speeds. I have never seen any actual differences in testing though.

Thanks guys,,, I have at least one of each, but have not noticed any kind of a difference at all. The warranty might be worth while,,, we'll see how well they hold up.

The 850 Evo is also available up to 4TB, the 850 Pro to 1TB.

I suspect for most users given the rate of change of technology the warranty is meaningless. The Evo has a 5 year warranty. I have no intent of owning any SSD for more than 5 years.

If asked wether an 850 Evo or 850 Pro is a better choice, I would say the 960 Evo or 960 Pro (requires M.2 slot or PCIe slot with an adapter). Much more impressive PCIe/NVMe based performance.

I have 840 EVOs, 840 PROs, 850 EVOs and 850 PROs and feel no difference. Even speed tests show similar results. Any of these drives seem to be faster than other weak links in the chain (e.g. the enclosure). Speed-wise, go with the cheaper option.

The warranty... I dunno, it *might* become a factor during its lifetime but, as always, that's a gamble. If it were me, I'd not worry about the warranty either.

Me also have used 840 Pro, 850 Evo, 850 Pro models over time and there´s no big difference for sure.

However from my personal experience the 850 Series was more reliable than the 840s and the 850 Pro
was a bit more stable and consistent in long time operation than the 850 Evo.
Means I did not have serious issues with the 850 Evos, they are great for the price but in the long run
the 850 Pros did the slightly better job all in all.
Again, just from my personal experience, I would recommend the 850 Evo models for any kind of system
drives, sample drives etc whereas I definitely would recommend the 850 Pro models for audio drives or any
other kinds of drives which you do a lot of recording/rewriting on.

Anyway. If you are on a budget the 850 Evo will do the job for sure. If on the other hand money definitely
will be no issue you might go for any PCie solution like suggested by Darryl.

All the best to everybody.
