I use a linsys 5 port 10/100 hub -$39.00

Connect all straight cables, do not use the digi included cross over cable if you are using a hub. I think it says something, or why in the manual.

It takes three cables, 1 from computor to hub, 1 from network to hub, 1 from c24 to hub. Works great with no probs.

j,

do you still need to have a shielded ethernet cable for the c24?

One side effect that I've never seen discussed....

With our C24 connected as described above, our other PT rooms (those without controllers) can also see the C24.

It's not very practical, but it's possible to use the controller features of the C24 from another room! (I guess that's why you have the ability to change the name of the C24.)

I'm using the Airport to Base Station or wireless websurfing/downloading. Can't be beat.

with answering part of my own question:

digi recommends using a shielded cable, but it is still currently unknown to me if it is needed.

I have two control 24s installed in two seperate rooms. I can only see each control 24 in each room but i am going to research it when i get to the studio.

No, i am not using shielded cables on any of them and I have no problems. I am not saying digi is wrong and I am write, just that for me reg. cat5 cables work great. I just put the cables together myself with reg. cable and reg. ends.

thank you for letting me know j.

i now understand what is going on.
the shield is for protection of rf, and also to have a common ground between computer and c24.(which could cause a possible ground loop)
