I followed that one as well but can't see where the discount gets calculated (I didn't go all the way through the order process). Also it seems like it's not for all one's plugins, just the ones that expire wup this year.

Unfortunately they do not show the details of calculation. I just remember how much it was for my plugins before the discount. I believe you can always contact Waves sales team and ask for details of calculation.

Also I've received email from www.wavesuniverse.com which are Waves authorized dealer, and they are proposing a slightly better offer for WUP with discount.

This would be a first for Waves. I don't believe they have ever offer a WUP discount. Here's hoping it's one of many!!

Well my Mercury had been out of WUP, certainly since I started this thread so I was missing some of the recent releases. So I decided I was going to get and purchase the WUP using my credits. As it turned out one can't use credits in My Rewards to pay for WUP. However, the online sales assistant suggest I "upgrade" rather than WUP as upgrades come with a free years WUP.

In short I owned these products, Mercury, SSL 4000 Collection, Abbey Road Collection, the two pianos and IM Pusher.

These were the upgrade options presented on the Waves site.

Studio Classics Collection - $373
Mercury + Studio Classics - $156
Abbey Road Collection - $84

So the first option made no sense at over twice the price of the same product plus Mercury?! Abbey Road Collection upgrade also made zero sense as I already had all the individual plugins having bought the most recent release the other day.

You guessed it, I plumped for Mercury + Studio Classics - $156 with a free year long WUP

WUPing all the non overlapping products to use on a single computer would have cost me $300!

So my advice is to seriously look at the Upgrade option from Waves rather than WUP.

I think the bundles/upgrades/WUP could do with a little rationalisation and streamlining.

Yep, that's what they want you to do until you have their "everything" bundle which keeps changing names...

Just keep in mind you can keep using and updating software without WUP. That's something many people miss and think it's compulsory. Extra tech support, license rescues and selling is the only other time you really need it...

Unless a major upgrade like Version 10 comes along. But that's fair, since everyone chahsrges you an upgrade fee to the newest version of their plugin.

Yeah that's what I didn't realise and found confusing. That said I have upgraded my Abbey Road Collection to get the latest release probably more than once so I don't know why I didn't think of it for Mercury. I assumed you needed to get WUP.

Conversely I have also bought the latest release with Abbey Road rather than upgrading! But upgrading seems to be the was as it comes with a year's WUP.

For those who have been waiting to WUP, now might be a good time?

Anyhow, sent my request to AudioDeluxe so let's if the price is right?!
