Default OT ... Jaguar ahead of schedule

Since the release of Jaguar is what's holding back the release of alot of OSX audio apps (hint, hint), this came as good news.

Yeah, it's nice to have good news from Apple for a change.

This is off the subject, but what does the "OT" stand for in your thread subject? I see this frequently on this message board, but I still haven't figured it out.

This "quartz" graphics engine worries me a bit. . .

This article says you need at least a GE-farce MX or a 32 meg ATI card to run it ?

I'm hoping this won't soak up all the bandwidth and cause problems with audio processing.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">OT ... means Off Topic. Meaning : Not directly related to Digi or PT LE but of interest to the readers of this forumn. It's just a polite way to post.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">As I understand it Quartz Extreme is a way to accelerate the 3D of the whole GUI the same way most 3D games are done now (in hardware). I believe Jaguar can be used and the Quartz Extreme can be turned off. Otherwise all the iBook people would be iScrewed.
It does mean that you're gonna get mucho better desktop graphics from a 32 meg card, but we knew that already

This is great news... I wonder if Digi is going to announce it's OSX version of PT at the NY Mac Expo in 2 weeks... I think they said it could come sometime this summer, so the timing could be right.
Let's hope so!

I noticed also that the ETA for Cubase SX was 5th July 2002 and today it has jumped back to 9th August 2002.
Maybe Steinberg are now waiting to release a Jaguar optimised version of Cubase SX with improved Core Audio and release it just after Jaguar - i.e. is Jaguar coming before 9th August?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I have a friend going to Macworld Expo, and he promised me that he would call me from the floor during the keynote if a Pro Tools OS X announcement is made. I'll surely post the news here!
