It seems like Miroslav Philharmonik is a good affordable option.
I'm about to start an "In The Box" score that will need better than normal strings and brass. Unfortunately, I am on a VERY limited budget.

You cannot go wrong with any of the EWQL libraries and they fit well in many budgets. You can go from the top of the line Hollywood categories to Symphonic Orchestra Silver. I own SO Platinum and love it.

Yes they do seem quite good. Are they easy or so to navigate through for a beginner...... Not to music but new to strings plugins?

I think so. It's pretty intuitive. I was a classically trained violinist in my younger days and I will tell you, it was pretty neat to lay down some VI's, turn it up and feel like I was right there again. There is so much in both the Play engine and in the library itself that I don't even use. And I still feel pretty good about things I do and certainly in my tracks people who "orchestral" LOVE the sounds. People who are not would have a hard time believing it's not real.

For someone like yorgo I'd actually go with EWQLSO Gold - lots more usable than Silver (not that Silver is bad) and gets you a good soundset that works in a lot of stuff. I use Gold here. Biggest advantage of Platinum is the 3 mic positions that neither stock Silver or Gold have.

East west strings is one of my first purchase and I still use them here and there, but it is a little long in the tooth.

Having said that it is still fairly affordable for a one size fits all starter kit.

You should check out these libraries as well, but they can get pricey.
8dio.com -
adagio strings (they sell the vlns, vla, cello & basses separately)
adagietto (it's the condensed combined version of adagio, pretty decent spiccatos)

Cinesamples.com
Cinestrings is a pretty good all rounder library

LASS - audiobro.com
Lass Lite 2.0 (if you layer a lot, the lite version may be enough)
Lass 1st chair (great if you want fairly realistic String quartet in a pinch)

Projectsam.com
Symphobia 1 & 2 has some very nice patches. Their concept is to record the sections together rather than separate, their violin & Viola patch is great. So is the strings with woodwinds.

East West Hollywood strings
Great pizzicato sections, nice legatos, I haven't been able to fully utilize this as East West was a ram hog, and back then in 32 bit with the ram limitations, it was difficult to run this. I may revisit this later.

Vienna Strings VSL.co.at
The pricier of them all, but I still go to them for legato stuff and layers. I particularly like the Viola and Cello chamber strings.

There's also a few others like Sonokinetic, Spitfire audio. They all have their own colors which is great.
