Weird buzz/artefact from digital i/o
Hi
I can hear a wierd buzz/artefact noises that seems to be coming from the digital i/o These artefacts are in some of the work produce... any way to get rid of it. I have an omni should I go all analogue rather than the digital i/o. I have heard this noise once before when connecting a preamp via digital i/o to protools. This was an entirely different system being protools 8 and mbox 2 pro. I think the only way to connect eleven rack to omni via analogue connection would be to purchase db25 break out cables... is this correct? Another quick question of less importance... can you purchase db25 breakout cables that have the xlr/1/4 inch jack combination female connector for inputs into omni??? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7E...it?usp=sharing https://www.dropbox.com/s/ranm8dapc0...2015.17.36.png SiSoftware Sandra ID Host Name : WawiliPitjas-PC Workgroup : WORKGROUP Computer Model : OEM System Product Name Serial Number : System Ser********** Chassis : Desktop Mainboard : ASUS RAMPAGE IV BLACK EDITION Serial Number : 1401209******** BIOS : AMI (OEM) 0507 01/09/2014 Total Memory : 16GB DIMM DDR3 Processors Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU @ 3.40GHz (6C 12T 4.2GHz, 4.2GHz IMC, 6x 256kB L2, 12MB L3) Socket/Slot : FC LGA2011 Chipset Memory Controller : ASUS Core (Ivy Bridge-E) DMI2 100MHz Memory Controller : ASUS Core (Ivy Bridge-E) Integrated Memory Controller 0 Target Address/Thermal Registers 100MHz, 4x 4GB DIMM DDR3 1.33GHz 256-bit Memory Module(s) Memory Module : Corsair CMD8GX3M2B2133C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-17100U DDR3-2134 (9-9-9-25 4-33-10-5) Memory Module : Corsair CMD8GX3M2B2133C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-17100U DDR3-2134 (9-9-9-25 4-33-10-5) Memory Module : Corsair CMD8GX3M2B2133C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-17100U DDR3-2134 (9-9-9-25 4-33-10-5) Memory Module : Corsair CMD8GX3M2B2133C9 4GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-17100U DDR3-2134 (9-9-9-25 4-33-10-5) Video System Monitor/Panel : Dell Computer DELL 2405FPW (1920x1200, 30.6") Monitor/Panel : Panasonic PANASONIC-TV (1600x1200) Video Adapter : ASUS R9 290 Series (40CU 2560SP SM5.0 1GHz/947MHz 5% OC, 4GB DDR5 5GHz 512-bit, PCIe 3.00 x16) Graphics Processor OpenCL GP Processor : ASUS R9 290 Series (2560SP 40C 1GHz/947MHz 5% OC, 3GB DDR5 5GHz 512-bit) Compute Shader Processor : ASUS R9 290 Series (2560SP 40C 1GHz/947MHz 5% OC, 4GB DDR5 5GHz 512-bit) Storage Devices WDC WD5001AALS-00E3A0 (500.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) : 466GB (I:) FM-25S2S-120GBP2 (120GB, SATA300, SSD) : 112GB (E:) (H:) WDC WD5001AALS-00E3A0 (500.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) : 466GB (F:) Intel Raid 1 Volume (500.1GB, SATA) : 466GB 2x WDC WD5001AALS-00E3A0 (120GB, SATA1/SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) : 112GB (C:) TOSHIBA MQ01ABB200 (2TB, USB2/SATA300, 2.5", 5400rpm, 8MB Cache) : 2TB (K:) HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H62N (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) : N/A (D:) DTSOFT BDROM () : N/A (G:) Logical Storage Devices LIBRARY (I:) : 466GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD5001AALS-00E3A0 (500.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) System Reserved (E:) : 100MB (NTFS) @ FM-25S2S-120GBP2 (120GB, SATA300, SSD) PLUGINS (F:) : 466GB (NTFS) @ WDC WD5001AALS-00E3A0 (500.1GB, SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) Sessions (C:) : 112GB (NTFS) @ 2x WDC WD5001AALS-00E3A0 (120GB, SATA1/SATA300, 3.5", 7200rpm, 32MB Cache) WawiliSound (K:) : 2TB (NTFS) @ TOSHIBA MQ01ABB200 (2TB, USB2/SATA300, 2.5", 5400rpm, 8MB Cache) SESSION (H:) : 112GB (NTFS) @ FM-25S2S-120GBP2 (120GB, SATA300, SSD) Optical Drive (D:) : N/A @ HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H62N (SATA150, DVD+-RW, CD-RW, 2MB Cache) Optical Drive (G:) : N/A @ DTSOFT BDROM () Peripherals LPC Hub Controller 1 : ASUS Patsburg LPC Controller LPC Legacy Controller 1 : T0 C8-03 Audio Device : ASUS Patsburg High Definition Audio Controller Audio Device : ASUS High Definition Audio Controller Disk Controller : ASUS Patsburg 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller Disk Controller : ASUS Asmedia 106x SATA Controller Disk Controller : ASUS Asmedia 106x SATA Controller Disk Controller : ASUS Asmedia 106x SATA Controller USB Controller 1 : ASUS Patsburg USB2 Enhanced Host Controller #2 USB Controller 2 : ASUS Patsburg USB2 Enhanced Host Controller #1 USB Controller 3 : ASUS ASMedia XHCI Controller USB Controller 4 : ASUS ASMedia XHCI Controller USB Controller 5 : ASUS ASMedia XHCI Controller SMBus/i2c Controller 1 : Intel ICH SMBus SMBus/i2c Controller 2 : Intel SNB-E XMB Ch 0 SMBus SMBus/i2c Controller 3 : Intel SNB-E XMB Ch 1 SMBus Printers and Faxes Printer : Microsoft XPS Document Writer (600x600, Colour) Fax : Microsoft Shared Fax Driver (200x200) Network Services Network Adapter : Intel(R) 82579V Gigai |

Re: Weird buzz/artefact from digital i/o
I've had this problem a couple of times too, all I did was change the clock source on the Eleven Rack Preference Pane (System Preferences on OSX, don't know where to find it on Windows), mine is set to AES/EBU so I change to Internal and then back to AES/EBU and it goes back to normal.

Re: Weird buzz/artefact from digital i/o
My Omni & 11R are connected digitally via S/PDIF and I get no noise whatsoever.
Digitally connected with proper cable (75 Ω coaxial) both in & out to & from both units (2 cables). With HD Native selected as playback engine, In PT>Setup>Hardware -Clock source is set to Internal. In Windoz>Control Panel, click the Eleven Rack icon (I've created a shortcut to desktop by right clicking icon). Set clock source to S/Pdif. Works fine for me.
