" Help me if you can I'm feeling down..."
I am in the process of crossgrading from PT8.0.4 to PT9. My set-up is:
iMac 21.5 3.06Ghz Intel Duo Core Processor MAC OSX 10.6.5 16Gb 1067Mhz DDR3 Ram I have loaded into my computer: Pro Tools 8.0.4 Pro Tools Instrument Expansion Kit Music Production Toolkit 2 003 Family Factory Bundle 003 Mixer interface My questions: 1. Do I need to download the control surface drivers, m-audio drivers, midi i/o drivers, pro tools hd drivers, pro tools firewire device drivers, pro tools usb device drivers, and licenses provided on the device driver dvd? Or are they already there from PT8.0.4? 2. Do I install everything on the Pro Tools 9 Installer DVD? Including the factory bundle? 3. If I have to uninstall PT8.0.4 or any of my digidesign software, what happens to all my sessions? 4. Do I have to uninstall any PT software or just load PT9 with everything on the crossgrade? I am fairly new to Pro Tools, having come from the ROLAND VS2480 experience where one did not have to upgrade software, just hardware. That being said, the VS2480 is a limited experience as compared to Pro Tools. I love Pro Tools but this software crossgrade is a bit confusing. Thus, the myriad of questions. I've searched the forums but could not find any answers with regards to my questions. I am hoping you gurus out there can help me out. This being my first post on the DUC, it took me 15 minutes to figure out how to post a question/thread, so you can see I am not all that savvy when it comes to computers and software. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: " Help me if you can I'm feeling down..."
Your sessions won't be affected when you uninstall PT 8.
As for the Factory plugins, they won't be affected either, and there's no need to reinstall them. Same goes for any 3rd party plugins. You just may want to double check if there's any updates for those Factory plugins or 3rd party plugins. |
