Default Going from PT 6.4 to 2018

Well, I am upgrading from PT 6.4 to 2018. Anything new I need to know about 2018 that's different from 6.4?

Thanks!

ps:
No, this isn't a joke. I am still on PT 6.4 TDM Mix 24 with two 888|24's.
I am upgrading to 2018 with an Orion 32+
Thanks, again

I still have 5.3 and 6.2 so I can honestly say the answer to your question is "Too much to list". Basic functions are the same. Additional functions abound. I believe you will be very happy with many and some might give you fits just like anything else in life

The big question is; are all your old sessions done in Wave or AIFF format, or SD II. If they are in SD II format, they will NOT open in the new Pro Tools. In that case, open any/all old SD II sessions and Save Session Copy, and convert to wave file format. Given the magnitude of this upgrade, I presume the old 6.4 system will remain untouched and you will have a completely separate new system?

Beyond that^^^ just be aware that many plugins are NOT going to transfer from 6.4 to 2018. Some because the newer versions are complete re-writes(especially the old stck EQ and compressor plugins). Some because they never made the transition from RTAS/TDM to AAX64(the current plugin format). As long as the old rig is available, I don't see this as a big problem. Just something to be aware of in case there is some "special sauce" in an old project, you will need to render that to bring it into the new system. The basic function is going to look and feel very familiar, but your mind is going to be blown by all the new stuff you have missed out on all these years

Thanks for the advice, especially on the file formates. I'll have to check on the file type.

Are there any resources to help me catch up on the changes to the program?

Thanks again,

Zach
