Default simultaneous recording of virtual instruments

i have a friend coming over this weekend and want to set up two midi controllers, a triton le and a roland pc 200, so that we can record individual virtual instruments at the same time.
i tried hooking up both controllers and presently only get a combination of the two instead of individually.
i've been able to do this in logic via the checking of a "demix" box as well as separate midi channels and it worked quite well.
what is the workaround in pt?
thanks,
mikeB.
osx 10.6.3
Pt 8.0.3
Maudio midisport 4x4
digi 002
mackie universal controller

I am not in front of PT right now so forgive me if this is incorrect. I keep my Akai MPD 24, and a piano connected to midi all the time. I have noticed that the only track that triggers is the one that is selected. Have you tried selecting oth instrument tracks? ie CNTRL (sorry i'm on windows) click the track names.
And of course setting each to it's own midi channel.

thanks,
I didn't mean arm I meant just selecting the track. (highlight the name). edit window view Instrument, to select the midi channel.

Hopefully someone will chime in with better information.

Assign two stereo Instrument track's MIDI Inputs to the Roland PC-200 and the Triton LE respectively and Record Arm both by holding Shift.
